Extended reality (XR) is an umbrella
term used to describe all immersive technologies that can merge the
physical and virtual worlds including — augmented reality (AR),
virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) as well as those that
are still to be created.
XROS Fellowship Program is a
uniquely curated initiative aimed at supporting Indian developers
working on XR technologies by providing fellowships which will
include a stipend and mentoring by industry experts. The Program
will support developers to make contributions to open source
projects related to XR technology.
The Program aims to give developers a platform to work with the
best resources to create digital public goods and further support
their careers by facilitating fellowships in organisations working
in the domain of AR, VR, MR, 3D Modelling, etc.
XROS Fellowship will provide a
learning cohort for 100 developers and selected developers will
work on projects with partner organisations and industry mentors.

XROS Fellowship Frequently asked
questions
The underlying thought of XROS Fellowship is to upskill
Developers on emerging technologies and prepare them for
the jobs of the future. Some of the partner
organisations have indeed committed to hiring the right
set of developers who match the skills required by the
partner organisations and they shall be making pre
placement offers to the deserving candidates.
The projects would largely be AR, VR, XR, 3D Modeling
and related projects.
The minimum stipend committed to each of shortlisted
students working on a live project is INR 4 Lakh per
month to be paid in the following 3 tranches :
1st Month - 1 Lakh INR
2nd Month - 1 Lakh INR
3rd Month - Post Final Report Submission,
to be signed off by the assigned Mentor- 2 Lakhs INR
Final Submission report needs to be approved by the
assigned mentor in minimum 90 days and maximum 120
days
No. The developer must only work on 1 project under the
supervision of the mentor / mentors. Working in multiple
organisations or on multiple projects is not allowed.
